The launch issue of Shooting Gameside, published by Micro Magazine in October 2010. It set the editorial pattern the series kept to the end: new releases, arcade classics, game music and doujin (self-published) games treated as one continuous subject, with long developer interviews as the backbone. The lead coverage took in Darius Burst Another Chronicle, then new to arcades, and Space Invaders Infinity Gene, alongside a retrospective on Hudson's shooting games and the Caravan score-attack culture around them.

The studio material is what gives the issue lasting value. There is a creator interview with G.rev, a feature tracing the shooting games of Raizing and Eighting, and a game music feature on Basiscape, the studio founded by Hitoshi Sakimoto. A round-table brings together doujin shooting developers including Team Shanghai Alice (the one-man circle behind Touhou Project), SITER SKAIN, RebRank, Entis Soft and Fuurinya, an unusually broad cross-section of the scene captured in one room. At 159 pages, it opened the only sustained print venue the genre ever had.
