Touhou Rououmu

Touhou Rououmu is a Japanese NES and Famicom homebrew that demakes the Windows danmaku game Touhou Youyoumu: Perfect Cherry Blossom onto 8-bit hardware, and it is catalogued as a vertical shoot-em-up. It was in development for years before version 1.00 was released in 2023, and its stated ambition is to push the Famicom further than earlier cartridge shooters such as Crisis Force and Recca. Players who have run it report that it carries over the source game's grazing, Supernatural Borders, all three playable characters with their alternate weapon setups and the pre-fight boss dialogue, without the slowdown and sprite flicker usually expected of a bullet-heavy NES game.
