Rude Breaker
Rude Breaker is a vertically scrolling shooter by Compile released on 5 April 1996 on the CD-ROM edition of Disc Station volume 10 for the NEC PC-9800 series. Its five stages use the studio's stepped power-up system, in which the main shot gains a level for each set number of items collected and loses a level when the player is hit, with frequent extra lives and brief invincibility granted on each level up. Its distinguishing mechanic is a sub-weapon part, selected from vulcan, laser or missile, that toggles between an attached combined form and a detached form in which the parts orbit or flank the ship and cancel enemy bullets as shields.
