Meganova

Meganova is a horizontally scrolling shoot 'em up published by Dinamic Software in 1988 for the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64 and MSX, programmed by Antonio Ruiz with graphics by Roberto Uriel Herrera and cover art by Alfonso Azpiri. The player is Philip Sunset, a salvager of lost objects who recovers a top secret military device and is taken on as a pilot by the forces of the Interstellar Confederation. The Spectrum version uses side-view 2D graphics in a reduced play window, loads in multiple parts, and was later reissued in the United Kingdom by Alternative Software as Meganova - The Weapon.
