Magic Vigilante

HISTORY

Magic Vigilante 魔導自警隊 is a shmup by nizakashii released in 2023. The game is playable in the browser of itch.io or it can be downloaded if playing it with a controller.

Before starting the game, the player can set the amount of lives from 1 to 9.

The game consists of 4 stages (in which the main 3 stages are divided into 2 sections), with an optional EX stage that can be selected by pressing down when given the choice of beginning stage 4.

Gameplay Overview

The game has the main shot and focus shot, main shot has trace options, while focus shot makes the options aim in front of the character.

The mechanic is the bullet converter field, in which when it captures bullets, they turn into daggers that can be fired back at enemies to get gems from them. The daggers can be aimed as well. During bosses, the bullet converter field will take more time to capture the bullets.

X key/X button: Bullet converter

C key/RT button: Full-auto shot

HUD

The HUD info:

Lives: The pink hearts are the standard lives stock. Yellow hearts are the excess lives.

Bullet conver gauge: Represents the remaining bullet converter energy left.

Score: The amount of score.

Gem counter: Represents the amount of gems.

Boss life gauge and HP value: Displays the boss`s life gauge and HP value. It is displayed on the upper left and lower right sides of the game field.

Scoring

Scoring consists of killing enemies with the daggers converted from the bullets to get gems. There`s 2 types of gems, diamond (yellow) and square (gray).

Extends

The 1st score extend threshold is 1250 gems, then, every 2500 gems collected will grand an extend.

The EX Boss is a tribute to Tukiyono, as well the BGM of Administer.
