Len'en Ten'eisenki: Brilliant Pagoda or Haze Castle

Brilliant Pagoda or Haze Castle is a vertically scrolling danmaku shoot 'em up for Windows and the fourth game of the Len'en Project, made by Trick Nostalgie's sole member JynX, with a trial in 2015 and the full version released on 1 December 2016. Unlike the previous Len'en games it works on a cell-based system: each stage is made of cells with a randomly chosen enemy formation, and a movement gauge at the bottom of the playfield tilts red, purple or white as the player moves left, middle or right, determining which cell comes next, which boss is fought and which stage follows. Its Trinity System combines three characters into one playable unit, where the main character supplies the shot type and movement speed, the sub character supplies the starting bombs and bomb types, and the support character matters only when it carries a skill that activates in that slot. Four teams of three are available from the start, and a fifth is unlocked by completing the Extra plus alpha stage as every other team.

STORY

Spring has come to Mugenri!

Flower-viewing! Booze!! WAR!!!

The skies are blanketed in sound and light, bullets and smoke.

Here, a bloodless war game has broken out!

The (self-proclaimed) New Emperor sets out to learn the true nature of this war, with an aspiring pirate and a pumpkin in tow!

All that aside, there seems to be a strange rumor spreading throughout the streets.

“When sake is poured into the vessel of the skies, and cheap ideas and pride are blended in, the mirror of Heaven shall surely split.”

Dunno what the heck that actually means, but…

"Mirror-splitting?" As in, cracking open a cold one?

"Well, we sure as heck can't ignore that!" Thus, a pack of rowdy drunkards sets out!

Plus some other guys set out for such-and-such reasons, too!

This somewhat jumbled and boisterous random improv danmaku shmup,

filled to the brim with characters and danmaku alike, is hereby complete! (About time...)
