HISTORY
GanaBlade (加纳战刃 "Ghanaian War Blade") (ガナブレード) is a vertical fast-paced 2D shoot'em up developed by Liao Kai. It features nostalgic retro pixel graphics and gameplay reminiscent of the golden era of shooting games, thus heavily inspired in Compile games, but with mechanics inspired from modern shmups from Raizing or CAVE titles. The game has a FC Contra styled soundtrack.
Gameplay Overview
Ganablade is a two-button, 8-bit-styled vertical scrolling shooting game, with 2 playable ships, Type-A and Type-B (plus the secret Type-C ship by pressing J and L keys on the ship and mode select screen), 6 stages, 3 shot types to cycle through, a Gun-Nac styled shop system and a variety of difficulty settings for both beginners and experts.
Controls
WASD: Moves the player's ship in 8 directions. can be used to navigate through the game's menu.
I: Fires the ship's main shot weapon. Confirms the player's selection in the main menu.
O: Activates the ship's sub-weapon skill, it has different properties depending what main weapon is the player using.
Cancels the player's selection in the main menu.
Esc key: Pause Menu.
Arrow Keys: Moves the player's ship in 8 directions. can be used to navigate through the game's menu.
Numpad 1: Fires the ship's main shot weapon. Confirms the player's selection in the main menu.
Numpad 2: Activates the ship's sub-weapon skill, it has different properties depending what main weapon is the player using.

Type-A (GANA-G01):

This ship is involved in frontal attacks.
Weapon variants:
-Variant 1: Fires a stream of rapid shots, with the side shots wiggling. SP attack releases a stream of 3 way burst shots. This SP attack requires 10 SP points.
-Variant 2: Fires energy balls that release 2 side shots in that aim down. SP attack releases an energized option that slowly moves forward. As long as the SP option is on
screen, SP points are consumed by 1.
-Variant 3: Fires a limited ranged flamethrower. SP attack releases an option that fires a stream of 2 limited ranged flames that spin. This SP attack requires 60 SP points.
Type-B (BLADE-XA3):
Piloted by Minai.
This ship is involved in spread and homing attacks.
Weapon variants:
-Variant 1: The main shot fires in a spread formation, while options fire forward. SP attack leavs an option of standby form firing a 3 way shot in a determined position. This
SP attack requires 10 SP points.
-Variant 2: The main shot fires forwardly, while options will aim at enemies. SP attack will release the energized options forward. As long as the SP options are on
screen, SP points are consumed by 1.
-Variant 3: Fires a series of beams that chase down enemies. SP attack enhances the power of the shots. This SP attack requires 10 SP points.
Type-C (???):
Piloted by Gana.
This ship is involved in strong firing, special weaponry and can equip up to 4 options. When auto-bombing or taking damage, an option will be lost.
To select Type-C, press J and L keys on the ship and difficulty select screen. This only affects Type-A.
Weapon variants:
-Variant 1: Fires small wave shots that can cancel glowing orange bullets.
-Variant 2: Fires alien eggs that upon impact, they release 4 shots in a cross formation. The alien egg shots can cancel glowing orange bullets.
-Variant 3: Fires a series of energy balls that follow enemies.
Type-C`s SP attack is an auto-firing Hyper shot stream, which applies to all it`s 3 weapon variants. This SP attack consumes all SP points, and it won`t stop until the SP
points run out.
Strategy
Depending on what weapon type you have equipped, you can milk some patterns for extra gold and score.
