Afteroids

Afteroids is a 1988 shoot 'em up written by Carlos Granados for the Made in Spain team and published by Zigurat for the Amstrad CPC, MSX and ZX Spectrum. It reworks Asteroids as a multidirectional shooter in which the ship rotates and thrusts with inertia and shots split rocks into smaller fragments, but the action takes place inside the 32 supercruisers of the fleet being protected rather than in open space, so each arena is bounded by walls whose force fields repel the ship on contact. Ammunition is limited, with photonic discharges as the main weapon and short-range neutrino bombs as a secondary, and a small radar in the corner of the screen tracks nearby objects.
