The official guide to Gradius Gaiden, published by Konami in 1997 with distribution handled by Shinkigensha, under the subtitle Operation Program. It runs 95 pages and carries the credit of the Shinkigensha editorial team.
Gradius Gaiden was released for the PlayStation on 28 August 1997 and remained a console exclusive entry in the series, which made the guide the companion to a game many arcade-first Gradius players encountered as their first home-original instalment.
As a first-party perfect guide it covers the game from Konami's side of the fence, and it remains the only dedicated book the game received.
